Narratives of Desai ni pol,

‘Desai ni pol ni vaarta’ (Narratives of Desai ni pol) is a research that delves into two historical narratives of the Desai ni pol, which is a historic gated street in the walled city of Ahmedabad. On one hand, it demonstrates a well documented historic records of the pol, replete with historic figures like gujarati poet Akha Bhagat and several personalities of Indian Freedom struggle. While on the other hand it narrates a local version of oral history acquired through the discussions with the people of the pol. As an attempt to give back to the pol community of Desai ni pol, exhibition, heritage walk and discussion were initiated. This project is Dharatal's humble effort to understand and portray an unbiased version of the history of the pol.
