In the project, two of the adjacent social housing quarters from 1960s were converted to a minimal architect’s studio and family residence. Both the spaces were connected to each other with an internal courtyard and external veranda. The new design was undertaken such that there are minimal changes in the existing load bearing structure and the costs were minimized. The location of the house with an open east west and presence of a public park was used as an opportunity and clerestory windows were incorporated to bring in lots of indirect natural sunlight and views of the park without compromising on the privacy.
